Li-S Energy expands Geelong facility for 2 Megawatt hour annual production

Li-S Energy Limited (ASX Code: LIS) is pleased to announce that it will significantly expand its production capabilities with a new facility in Geelong. Li-S Energy has signed a three-year Heads of Lease Terms with Deakin University, with two additional three-year options, for over 1,000 sqm of dedicated space at the University’s ManuFutures 3 facility on the Waurn Ponds campus.

We are excited with this opportunity to now expand production capacity for our lithium sulphur batteries with the new space being adjacent to both the current production and research labs on the campus.

Over the coming months we plan to install a large dry room and significant commercial equipment in the facility to enable our production capacity to scale from its current limited capacity to over a thousand cells per week, which translates to more than 2 Megawatt hours of production capacity each year. The new facility also has several adjoining research labs to ensure close and ongoing cooperation between our research and production teams.

Completion of the new facility will be a critical step in commercialisation, allowing the company to produce consistent high quality, commercial-grade cells and packs for testing and utilising by our partners. This state-of-the-art facility will demonstrate the scalability of our industry leading IP on lithium sulphur and lithium metal battery technology.

Li-S Energy CEO, Dr. Lee Finniear, commented

“Li-S Energy is excited to establish this new facility, collocated with our existing research and production teams in the Deakin University industrial precinct. Finding the right location has been critical and we believe our new facility does this, giving us continued access to world class researchers, while cementing the long-term partnership with the University, and bringing additional skilled jobs to regional Victoria.”
